ReneMarie Stroke of Luck Show Broadcasting from Village Connection Network/Rockstar Studios is back from Hiatus of the Thanksgiving Holiday to announce our December 8th show 9 am thru 10 am as a review and highlight of some of our memorable past shows this year.

First of all we are excited to announce that ReneMarie Language of Love Foundation, Inc., 501(c)3 Organization for Stroke and Aphasia, together with ReneMarie Stroke of Luck Show are in the process of working with Altice Local Cablevision to Broadcast the 2020 upcoming shows. In addition our shows from Village Connection Network/Rockstar Studios will be Broadcasting every other week with the first show airing 9 am thru 10 am, and the second show 10 am thru 11 am, starting Sunday, January 5th 2020. This will provide us more flexibility to go out and work more closely one on one with our other important objectives and missions to assist the general public.

 

Sunday, December 8th we will be highlighting some of our special guests and the topics they discussed:

 

Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick from the 8th District of the New York Assembly continues to provide us with the State of Affairs, Educate us on how the Government operates and how we can continue to be a vibrant voice and partner with all to make positive (very needed) change. One of our main focus points is to continue discussing medical insurance, direction of the new laws going in, consistency in rehabilitation laws and how insurance or the political world should not be the deciding factor in Stroke or Aphasia recovery.

 

Dr. Kimon Bekelis, MD, Chairman Neurointerventional Services at Catholic Health Services of Long Island, Director, Stroke and Brain Aneurysm Center of Long Island, Co-Director, Neuro ICU at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, Director, Population Health Research Institute of New York at CHSLI, Assistant Professor, The Darthmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, and fellowship trained neurosurgeon with subspecialty training in minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery specializing in Gamma Knife radiosurgery, and complex spine and brain operations was a frequent guest along with....

 

Jason Wallen, One of the most Registered Radiographic Technologists in endovascular neusurgery, in the country was one of the pillars of The Stroke and Brain Aneurysm Center of Long Island, and participated in a lot of the decision making during the inception of the program. Jason has additional training on advanced imaging and post processing techniques for intracranial stent visualization.

 

Both Dr. Kimon Bekelis and Jason Wallen spoke about the work they are involved with , and the outpatient locations at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, West Islip, St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, Smithtown, St. Charles Hospital, Port Jefferson and Plainview Locations.

 

Dr. Roxanne Carfora, family medicine specialist in St. James, New York, graduated from NY College of Osteopathic Medicine, New York Institute of Technology and has been practicing 31 years ... she discussed with our audience genetics, inflammatory proteins and what proteins can do for a healthy heart. In a second appearance she talked about healthy food and vitamins that are beneficial to us all.

 

Tobin Osusky, shared with our audience that two days before he was supposed to graduate from High School he was in a catastrophic car accident that broke his neck (C6/C7), back L4/L5), had 3rd degree burns covering 80% of his body and suffered severe head trauma from the accident. Tobin's wish now is to help and heal others as much as time allows, and the "so called accident" set him on track to discover his destiny and life has provided extraordinary opportunities that allow him to do so.

 

ReneMarie Language of Love Telethon aired on Sunday, May 5th and Benefited The American Heart and Stroke Associations, Life's Next Chapter Foundation and ReneMarie Language of Love Foundation.

Cyndy Feasel, Author of "After The Cheering Stops" about her college sweetheart husband, NFL Star Grant Feasel and his many injuries playing football. Cyndy is a Brain Awareness Advocate, and Co-Founder of the group Faces of CTE. Cyndy is an Elementary Art Teacher for 21 years and loves to read, write and paint in her spare time. She discussed the tragic story of her family's journey into chaos and darkness resulting from the damage her husband suffered due to football related concussions and head trauma and the faith that saved her.

 

Edna Schneider, M.A. CCC/SLP, THSS, CBIS

Highly regarded practitioner and presenter in speech-language pathology with more than 30 years of clinical experience and a deep focus on issues of Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injury, Concussion, Parkinson's Disease, and Neurogenic Disorders as a Clinical Specialist at Rusk Rehabilitation's Department of Speech-Language Pathology, NYU Langone Medical Center. Her guest appearance was about Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury.

 

Susan Gruen Helsinger, Long Island Realtor who was named as 2016 Good Neighbor Award Winner is Founder/President of The Jason F. Gruen Research Foundation in honor of her son Jason. Jason was a victim of IHSS (Idiopathic Hypertrophic Subaortic Stenosis) a heart disease which frequently affects otherwise healthy young people and all too often results in sudden death in spite of proper diagnosis and medication. At present there is no cure. Susan brough us awareness of this disease.

 


Dr. Angela Kokkosis, MD, FACS, Board Certified in Vascular Surgery and is the Director for Carotid Interventions in the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Stony Brook Medicine. She is also Associate Professor of Surgery at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. In addition to carotid procedures her clinical areas of expertise include open and endovascular approaches to aneurysmal disease, peripheral arterial disease, dialysis access, thoracic outlet syndrome and venous disease. Dr. Kokkosis topic on ReneMarie Stroke of Luck Show was TCAR Procedures For Stroke Prevention and the new minimally invasive transcarotid artery revascularization procedure that uses a special transcarotid neuroprotection system designed to reduce the risk of stroke during the insertion of the stent. The TCAR procedure offers patients a safer method of carotid stenting through a small incision at the base of the neck and direct carotid artery access along with neuro-protective flow reversal during deliver of the stent.

Mark Moore, Author of A Stroke Of Faith, together with his wife Brenda Moore, skyped into our show to discuss Mark's stroke and how he had no longer control over anything. Though his life will never return to his pre-stroke normality, through his crisis, he gained a deeper understanding of the centrality of God's control in his life and in all of our lives. A Stroke Of Faith tells the story of moving from acceptance to surrender and from hope to faith. In later years Mark and Brenda Moore formed the Mark and Brenda Moore Foundation.

 

Jean Marie Gibbs, Founder/President of Pathways Stroke Foundation created in honor of her mother Agnes, who suffered a devastating hemorrhagic stroke with many disabilities including hemiparesis, and her main challenge of overcoming Apraxia and Aphasia. Jean Marie discusses the many challenges in helping her Mom recover.
